Indiana County Commissioner Robin Gorman announced yesterday during the Commissioners meeting that she will step down from her post on November 8th.
Gorman is leaving in the middle of her second term as Commissioner, having been first voted into office in 2019. Before then, she worked for IUP in different positions, including executive assistant to former President Tony Atwatter and current president Dr. Michael Driscoll. When asked what she was most proud of in her career as Commissioner, she cited it was the creation of the Indiana Area Collaborative Team when she was with the University and its ongoing work.
Gorman is leaving to become the vice president for Homer City Redevelopment, LLC. Commissioners chairman Mike Keith said that the position was a great opportunity.
Commissioner Sherene Hess was shocked by the announcement.
Gorman said that it will now be up to the Court of Common Pleas to select a registered elector from the Republican Party to take her place for the balance of her term.
