The Penguins lost to Buffalo, 3-2, in their second preseason game last night. The Sabres’ Anton Wahlberg broke a 2-2 tie with a goal in the second period.
Defenseman Jack St. Ivany and forward Kevin Hayes scored the Pens’ goals. Alex Ndeljkovic started in goal for the Penguins and stopped 12 of 15 shots. Coach Mike Sullivan was asked about what he looks for from his goaltenders during the preseason.
Sullivan says forward Kevin Hayes, the biggest acquisition in the offseason, has all of the elements to be a good addition. He just needs to get acclimated to the fast pace of the Penguins’ style of play.
The coach also likes what he’s seen so far from young defenseman Jack St. Ivany.
The Penguins lost defenseman Filip Kral to a left leg injury in the third period. His status is unknown.
Next up for the Pens is a Saturday game at Detroit.
