Steelers coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly media chat today and he will no doubt be asked about his offensive line, which has suffered the loss of top draft choice Troy Fautanu for perhaps the rest of the regular season. Fautanu has a knee injury suffered last Friday in practice and, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport, will require surgery.
NFL Network’s Mike Garofalo says the Steelers worked out veteran offensive tackle Calvin Anderson yesterday and signed him to a contract afterward, although he did not say whether Anderson was signed to the practice squad or the regular roster. He was released last month by the Patriots, after playing for Denver from 2019 to 2022 and signing with New England prior to last season. Anderson confirmed the signing to a reporter from the Boston Globe.
Chargers safety Derwin James has been suspended for one game without pay for “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players” after a helmet-to- the-head hit on Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth on Sunday.
