Security at the Donald Trump campaign rally at the KCAC next Monday is one of the hot-button issues with the campaign after two assassination attempts were made over the last two months.
State Police will be a part of the security detail for the rally, but Public Information Officer Trooper Cliff Greenfield said that he had no extra information to offer on top of that.
Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said they will be ready to support their law enforcement partners when needed.
IUP Executive Director of Communications Michelle Fryling said that the university has also been in contact with relevant authorities on the matter.
The former president was wounded during a shooting at an outdoor rally in Butler on July 13th that also claimed the life of Corey Comperatore. In that incident, the suspected gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by a member of the Secret Service Counter Sniper team.
Last Sunday, a suspect later identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was spotted allegedly holding an AK-style rifle and hiding in the shrubbery at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach while Trump was playing golf. Routh was apprehended after fleeing the scene. That investigation is continuing.
