The Pennsylvania Supreme Court also ruled on the ballot status of two third-party presidential candidates.
According to the ruling, Constitution Party candidate James Clymer and Claudia De la Cruz from the Party for Socialism and Liberation were denied a space on the ballot for this year’s election. In Clymer’s case, the judge found that four of his party’s 19 presidential electors did not submit candidate affidavits as required by the August 1st deadline. In De la Cruz’s case, seven of her party’s 19 electors named in paperwork were registered as Democrats, which violates a political disaffiliation provision.
So far, two third-party candidates will be on the ballot: Jill Stein of the Green Party and Chase Oliver of the Libertarian party. Their petitions to get on the ballot were not challenged.
