The Pirates were routed by Kansas City, 8-3, on Saturday at PNC Park.
Luis Ortiz took the loss allowing six runs in the second inning and seven over his four inning-start with five hits and five strikeouts. The Pirates had nine hits on the day, but the only runs came via a Joey Bart line drive in the sixth, and a Bryan Renyolds sac-fly and a ground ball single by Oneil Cruz in the 9th.
Mitch Kellar will start for the Bucs against Michael Wacha in game two of the series, which is set for 1:05 this afternoon. We will not have coverage of the game due to our commitment to Pitt Football.
