On last night’s first edition of Hawk Talk for the 2024 season, IUP coach Paul Tortorella said the Crimson Hawks’ win over Ashland could have been by a much wider margin except for some mistakes. IUP beat Ashland last Thursday, 19-10.
Tortorella told Jack Benedict it was quite a night for IUP against a quality program.
The coach says it doesn’t get any easier this Saturday against Lock Haven, a team he says has used the transfer portal to turn around their program. He expects another tough road environment.
IUP has beaten Lock Haven 34 straight times, last losing in 1981. IUP beat the Eagles 77-14 the last time they played in 2019, but this is a different type of team, with more than two dozen players recruited off the transfer portal.
Hawk Talk happens every Monday night at 6 o’clock at the Elks Lodge in Indiana. You can attend in person, watch on Renda Digital TV, or listen on 92.5 FM U92.
