The Pirates found their offense again last night after being no-hit by the Cubs on Wednesday. Joe Block recaps the Bucs’ win over the Nationals.
The Pirates added reliever Joey Wentz to the big league roster yesterday after claiming him off waivers from the Tigers. Pitcher Domingo Germán was designated for assignment. It did not go well for Wentz in his Pirates’ debut. He was brought in to pitch the 9th inning, but gave up two walks, a single, and a hit batsman. Aroldis Chapman relieved him and finished the game.
ALTOONA CURVE
Brenden Dixon launched a 9th inning home run to give Altoona a 3-2 win over Hartford. It was his eighth home run of the season. Dixon is hitting only .188 with the Curve. Termarr Johnson was 0-for-3 and is batting only .069 since his promotion to Altoona.
Anthony Solometo pitches for the Curve tonight.
