In a tri-match at Chestnut Ridge, Homer-Center topped Northern Cambria by 12 strokes, finishing 5 strokes behind The Kiski School. Final score: Kiski 213, Homer-Center 218, Northern Cambria 230. It was Homer-Center’s low score of the season.
There was a three-way tie for medalist. Homer-Center’s Marcus Coy and Kiski School’s Sebastian Waugaman and Oliver Marreau all shot two over par 38. Coy birdied the par four sixth. The Wildcats’ Brayden Rado scored a 40, Noah Turk shaved five strokes off his season best with a 42, and Isaiah McCracken had a 48. Ava King, Nathan Birchall, and Reece Coy just missed finishing in the 40s, with each shooting a 50.
The River Valley girls golfers improved to 6-0 with wins over Altoona and State College in a tri-match at Park Hills Country Club in Altoona. Maren Dunlap led the way for the Panthers with a 47.
VOLLEYBALL
Conemaugh Valley squeaked by Homer-Center, 3-2. The Blue Jays took the first game, 25-19, lost the second game 25-22, won the third game, 25-17, lost the fourth, 25-20 and won the deciding fifth set 15-11.
West Shamokin tripped up Northern Cambria, 3-0, winning all three sets, 25-22.
Marion Center upended United, 3-0.
Conemaugh Township beat River Valley, 3-0.
