Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi’s weekly news conference yesterday focused – in his words – on “the good, the bad, and the ugly” in the wake of the Panthers’ 55-24 win over Kent State. The coach liked the resilience of his team, which led by a score of only 28-21 in the third quarter.
Narduzzi saw the good but he also had plenty of “bad” and “ugly” on Saturday. He said the “self-inflicted wounds” will be corrected, such as pass protection, bad technique in the secondary that allowed Kent State a couple of scores, Holstein’s interception thrown off his back foot, and poor tackling by the Panthers.
The coach says the video review on Sunday confirmed what he thought on Saturday. New quarterback Eli Holstein is a pretty cool customer.
Now, Pitt steps up in class to play Cincinnati this Saturday, and the coach says the Bearcats, who have beaten Pitt the last three times they’ve played, are a very good team. Narduzzi says Cincinnati is loaded with offensive talent.
Pitt’s game at Cincinnati this Saturday kicks off at noon on WCCS.
