The Pirates defense and pitchers continue to suffer as they dropped their fourth straight game, this time to the Cleveland Guardians. Joe Block reports.
Two notable roster moves were made before the game. Andrew McCutchen was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. He was placed on it after suffering some inflammation in his left knee. He is hitting .235 with 16 home runs and 40 RBIs. The other move was that David Bednar was removed as the team’s closer. Pirates Manager Derek Shelton said that closing duties will be handled by committee Bednar, an All-Star for the Pirates in 2022 and 2023 has had trouble finding a groove this year. He is 3-7 with a 6.32 ERA this year in 50 games, and has blown six saves this year.
The Pirates and Guardians play again tonight, and you can hear the game on WCCS following Pitt football.
