Indiana County Commissioners today approved two resolutions concerning the 2024 Community Development Block Grant.
The first resolution requested the board approve the project scope and three-year-plan of the County-wide needs priorities for the 2024 Non-entitlement CDBG application. The County Office of Planning and Development wants to see the $282,789 go to the New Pathway Non-Congregate Homeless Shelter Construction Project. The other resolution authorized the filing of the 2024 CDBG application with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, which includes the county’s entitlement, and two entitlement communities of Indiana Borough and Center Township.
The commissioners approved receiving two grants during the meeting. Commissioner Chairman Mike Keith said in the long run, these grants will help the county save a lot of money.
The two grants the county will receive are the Intermediate Punishment Grant for $135,000. It is earmarked for individuals who have been sentenced in the county court of common pleas to probation with restrictive conditions, focusing on the drug treatment court, along with the Armstrong Indiana Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission and the County Probation Department. The other grant was a Juvenile Probation Services Grant of $81,668.
