The Purchase Line school board approved several policies connected with the upcoming school year during their meeting Monday night. One in particular deals with the district’s electronic device policy.
The former policy allowed students to carry mobile devices to class and have them on their person as long as they were silenced, but the motion approved last night states that students must leave their devices in their locker or in receptacles in classrooms. One exception being that students with medical conditions can use them to monitor their health throughout the day.
One amendment was made to the policy, and it allows certain classes to use them for educational purposes. Superintendent Patricia Berezansky broke down the stipulation.
In other business, Berezansky looked back on her first year as superintendent after the meeting. She said the biggest thing she learned was the importance of having up-to-date policies.
She adds she’s looking forward to “a great school year” and seeing students back on campus next week.
