There is one full week of summer vacation left for Indiana County’s school students, and three area school boards will meet tomorrow to finalize their plans for the resumption of classes.
Indiana Area will vote on a motion to change start times for the elementary schools. The doors would open at 8:15 for students in grades 4 and 5, with the start of the day at 8:30 and dismissal at 3:30. For K through 3, doors would open at 8:35 and the school day would begin at 8:55, with dismissal at 3:35.
The board will vote on the agreement for Merakey at the Horace Mann building, and there are a number of coach assignments to be voted upon.
Marion Center’s school board meets on Monday as well, with an agenda heavy on personnel items.
Personnel, including coaches, and the ongoing work on updating and adding to district policies highlight tomorrow’s Purchase Line agenda.
The United and River Valley school boards meet on Tuesday, Penns Manor on Wednesday, and Homer-Center on Thursday.
All of the seven Indiana County-based school districts are scheduled to begin their school year on August 22nd, with the exception of River Valley, which starts on the 21st.
First-year students arrive at IUP this coming Saturday and Sunday, with continuing students scheduled to move in August 24th and 25th. Welcome Week starts next Monday. Classes begin on Monday, August 26th.
