Residents across Indiana came together this week to help the Indiana Borough Police Department after the annual National Night Out was postponed due to inclement weather.
Police Chief Justin Schawl said that an administrative assistant and borough employee with an affinity for baking was ready to sell their goods as part of the National Night Out on August 6th, but when that was called off due to the rain, it left them with a lot of product but no where to sell it. Instead of letting the baked goods go to waste, Schawl said the unnamed employee went to Facebook, and it was successful.
Schawl said that the community came through to make the best out of a bad situation, buying each pastry within an hour. He was very appreciative of the community’s support.
No word yet on a total for the fundraiser for the K-9 program.
