“Heat week” has arrived for high school football players, with the start of the season just eighteen days away. Heat acclimation allows athletes to work on conditioning and hydration in non-contact drills, wearing helmets and shoulder pads. PIAA rules require a player to participate in five consecutive days of heat acclimation before they can play in full-contact drills.
Full-on football practice begins next Monday. Scrimmages will take place August 17th, and the first games for the Heritage Conference and WPIAL teams are on August 23rd.
