A bridge project starting tomorrow in Westmoreland County will require a 21-mile detour in Derry Township and perhaps some extra emergency services coverage involving Indiana County fire companies.
Route 982 between Garrigan Hill and Laughlin Farm Road in close for the installation of a box culvert to replace a bridge. The detour for drivers will involve the use of Route 22, Route 981, and Industrial Boulevard.
Bradenville firefighters may be delayed when called upon, so Blairsville and New Alexandria firefighters will be on call if needed for traffic accidents north of the road closure. Should a structure fire be reported in that area, Black Lick and Crabtree firefighters will also be on alert.
It’s a $930,000 project that should be completed by late this month.
