Thousands gathered in Latrobe for Latrobe Fest and the annual Friday Night Lights Steelers training camp session on Friday, but for the second time this week, things got chippy between Steeler players.
In the “Backs on Backers” drill, there were some cross words between running back Najee Harris and linebacker Patrick Queen. Jaylen Warren and Elandon Roberts also had some hard hits, but this time, no punches were thrown and Coach Mike Tomlin broke up the scrum.
Starting quarterback Russell Wilson was in uniform and pads and took part in all individual drills and directed the 7-on-7 offense. A small number of snaps he took in 11-on-11 continued to be all running plays. Justin Fields was the de facto leader of the first team offense.
Minkah Fitzpatrick was limited in work yesterday, while reserve outside linebackers Jeremiah Moon and Kyron Johnson did not practice. Training camp returns to Saint Vincent today, with practice now going to a 1:55 start time.
The Steelers kick off the pre-season August 9th against the Houston Texans.
