Multiple fire companies were called out for a brush fire in Washington Township.
Indiana County 911 dispatched the Elderton, Creekside, Plumville and Indiana fire departments along with Citizens Ambulance at 4:17 PM to a wooded area along Buchheit Road. Creekside fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that an acre of wooded area was on fire when they arrived, and the fire was fast moving and was also growing because of increased winds in the area. When the wind changed direction, it pushed the fire down a driveway at the right flank.
Crews had to use a nearby pond to help supply them with water. Two firefighters were treated on-scene by Citizens for minor smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion. No word on the cause of the fire.
