The PA Youth Legion’s 55th State Championship Tournament comes to Indiana County this weekend, with the action getting underway tomorrow morning at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City. There will be four games on Saturday, all of them in Homer City, with four more on Sunday, three at Homer City and one at the White Township Recreation Complex.
Mark Bertig of the Homer City Baseball Boosters says the tournament field this year is deep and talented.
The games Saturday begin at 10 AM with Upper Perk playing Monroeville, followed at 1 o’clock by Sunbury-Norry against Trafford, at 4 by Hamburg playing Indiana County League champion S.W. Jack, and at 6:30, host team Homer City Post 493 takes on Boyertown.
Bertig says the tournament is a financial boon to the entire region, with teams coming from across Pennsylvania.
Sunday’s action features two loser’s bracket games, both at 10 AM, with one at First Commonwealth Bank Field and the other at the White Township Recreation Complex, plus two more games at Homer City, at 4 and 7 o’clock. Three more games are scheduled Monday , two on Tuesday, and championship day will be Wednesday, when there could be either one or two games, depending on the results of the first game.
Renda Digital TV has all of the Homer City Post 493 and S.W. Jack games throughout the tournament, starting with the Drillers and Hamburg at 3:50 PM tomorrow.
