Reports say that Vice President Kamala Harris has submitted vetting documents to several people she wants to have as a running mate in her 2024 presidential campaign, and one of those candidates is Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
Other candidates who have reportedly been asked to submit documents include North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly. Shapiro said at an event at Shippensburg University yesterday that he has not received or submitted any documents to the Harris campaign, and continued to downplay reports that he is on the short list of candidates to be Harris’ running mate. He once again publicly announced his support for Harris, saying he was confident she would be the next president.
Shapiro and Harris did talk on the phone on Sunday after President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the presidential election, but Shapiro said at the time the conversation focused on how to beat Former President Donald Trump.
