NFL training camps open this week. The Steelers’ players report to camp on Wednesday and the first practice at St. Vincent College is on Thursday.
The Steelers enter camp with some contract issues, the biggest of which is the Cam Heyward extension. The defensive lineman and team captain wants a three-year deal. He has only this year left on his current contract. The team may also be working on extensions for tight end Pat Freiermuth and running back Najee Harris, whose fifth-year option they declined to pick up in the offseason.

The Packers have signed nose tackle Kenny Clark to a three-year, $64 million extension. He’s a three-time Pro Bowler.
Giants’ starting quarterback Daniel Jones said yesterday that he expects to be a full participant when training camp opens tomorrow. He played only six games last season before being sidelined by a torn ACL.
The Houston Texans have signed former Rams and Vikings running back Cam Akers, who is coming back from a torn Achilles tendon.
