Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate went unchanged over the month of June.
According to the state Department of Labor & Industry, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.4 percent, marking the ninth straight month the rate went unchanged. The state’s unemployment rate was also two-tenths of a point higher above the record low in June 2023, which was 3.2 percent.
Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate increased by one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.1 percent.
Pennsylvania’s civilian labor force, which is the estimated number of people working or looking for work, went down 2,000 over the month to 6,603,000 due to a drop in resident employment. Total non-farm jobs were up 15,600 over the month to 6,183,900, marking the 11th consecutive record-high for Pennsylvania’s job count. Jobs increased in seven of the 11 industry supersectors, with the largest gain coming from education & health services, which rose by 8,300 jobs, marking its 13th consecutive record high.
Countywide data is expected to be released next Tuesday.
