Former Pirates manager Jim Leyland’s Hall of Fame induction speech was, like Leyland’s career, right on the mark. Leyland spoke eloquently about his family and about his career, outlining his lengthy time in the minors as player and manager and then his Major League service, including managing the Pirates, Marlins, Rockies, and Tigers.
He was his typically emotional self, his voice shaking as he talked about his relationship with Pittsburgh and Pirates fans.
Leyland went into the Hall of Fame along with three players: Todd Helton, Joe Mauer, and Adrian Beltre.
