A number of road and bridge projects are on the schedule for this week throughout the region.
Nighttime resurfacing begins tomorrow on West Pike in White and Armstrong Townships. Milling and paving will be done between 8 PM and 6 AM nightly through August 3rd between Ben Franklin Road at the YMCA and the Route 422 intersection. One-lane traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
The Army Specialist Christine L. Mayes Memorial Bridge on Richmond Road in Grant Township will reopen tomorrow after its weekend closure. The bridge was closed for deck repairs and resurfacing on Friday. The work will continue into September on Richmond Road.
Resurfacing of Route 85 in South Mahoning Township continues Monday. The six-mile stretch of highway between Home and Plumville is getting a new coat of asphalt and the work is approaching the Route 119 intersection at Home so there could be delays on 119 as traffic is flagged there.
Temporary traffic signals went up Friday along the Route 422 corridor in Pine Township, where PennDOT will be installing the Intelligent Transportation Systems technology and performing miscellaneous construction projects. The work will involve the replacement of the current flashing beacons with new mounted beacons and flashing warning signs to warn drivers of crossing traffic. They started Friday with the intersection of 422 and Route 403 Dilltown/Vintondale Road. It’s a $115,766 project and flaggers will help traffic through the affected areas during the installations, which are expected to continue through January 14th.
And a week from tomorrow, milling and paving will begin on Route 56 in Center Township. New asphalt will be laid down between Route 119 in Homer City, through Waterman and all the way to the Route 954 intersection near Coy’s Pizza, with one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers.
