Construction projects on PennDOT roads are expected to ramp up over the next few days.
One project includes West Pike between Route 422 and Indiana Road in White Township. That will be a nighttime paving operation performed by Quaker Sales of Johnstown. Starting Sunday, milling and paving will take place between 8 PM and 6 AM in that area. Traffic will be restricted to one lane controlled by flaggers. The project will run through August 3rd.
Also underway right now is a project to install new traffic signals in Pine Township. This will be on parts of Route 422. Crews will install Intelligent Transportation Systems and perform other miscellaneous projects. There will be six projects throughout, which will be announced individually. This includes the installation of flashing beacons with new mounted beacons and flashing warning signs that will alert motorists of crossing traffic. The project started yesterday at the intersection of 422 and Route 403/Dilltown Vintondale Road.
PennDOT has also announced that paving operations will begin July 29th on Route 56 in Center township. Paving operations will go on between Route 119 and Route 954 near Coy’s Pizza. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for that project as well.
