Gerald Stephen Holliday, 76 of Indiana died Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born June 24, 1948, a son of the late Stephen Holliday and Suzanna (Marusa) Holliday. He married Karen Sue Beatty, October 19, 1968. Together they raised three children.
A graduate of Indiana High School, Jerry worked 28 years at FMC in Homer City, then following retirement he worked seven additional years at Indiana Hospital.
Jerry loved music in every form, from listening to playing. He was a member of several local bands, including playing with his brother Kenneth “Hiram” Holliday and his father with “The Jet-Tones”. He often traveled to concerts to hear his favorite bands. It was important to him to support local bands, especially ones that included his lifelong friends.
Jerry was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. One of his greatest joys was to watch his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events and any other activities that involved them. He was a member of the F.O.E. # 1468 of Indiana where he loved to go and play pool.
In addition to his wife, Karen, Jerry is remembered by his children: Cynthia Ann Fleming, Indiana; Brenda Jean Holliday, Clymer and son-in-law, Jason McGaughey, Marion Center. His grandchildren are: Jasmine Moore, Marissa Moore, Laken Engel; Mason Engel; Madison McGaughey and Lillian Fleming. Additional survivors include his former son-in-law, Shawn Fleming, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michele McGaughey; brother, Kenneth “Hiram” Holliday; in-laws, Silas R. Beatty and Georgann Smith Vedder and by brother-in-law, Bill Beatty.
Visitation is Monday, July 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana (965 Phila St.). Parastas service will begin at 3 PM Monday at the funeral home. Panachida will begin at 9:15 Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM with Rev. Fr. Wesley Mash at St, Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 279 Yellow Creek St., Homer City. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
