Nine fire departments were called to the scene of a house fire in Homer City Wednesday night.
Indiana County 911 reported that firefighters from Homer City, Coral-Graceton, Indiana, Brush Valley, Black Lick and Blairsville were initially dispatched at 9:20 PM to the home at 115 Pine Street in Center Township, with crews from Aultman, Clyde and Coal Run called out four minutes later to provide additional assistance. Homer City Assistant Fire Chief Joe Iezzi, Jr. told us what he saw when he first arrived.

He said that the main problem was the distance the house was from the hydrant, with the nearest hydrant being two streets over and crews needing to use a lot of hose and a few trucks to power the water up the hill. He said that he was proud of all the firefighters on scene for working through the night.
No injuries were reported, and no one was home at the time. The cause of the fire is not known, and state police fire marshals have been called in to investigate.
