In Little League Action, ICM 12u softball team beat Caln Little league in a 9 inning game 6-5. It was tied after 7 innings when the game went to the international tie breaker, giving each team a runner on 2nd base. The 8th inning both sides scored a run making the game tied 3-3. The 9th inning Caln scored 2 runs making the score 3-5. ICM came up to bat as the home team and was able to score a run with a single by Ella Worthington driving home AJ Putt. ICM was able to get the bases loaded with Aunika Brooks up to bat. She singled the ball into left center field bringing in 2 runs to win the game for ICM. Ella Worthington notched 15 strikeouts over six innings and held Caln without a hit. ICM will face Pittston Little league on Sunday at 5pm. The winner of that goes to the state championship game in the winner’s bracket.
And the Indiana 14U softball all-stars won the state championship with wins of 4-3 and 7-1 over Titusville/Mid-East/Cochranton (TMC) in Union City last night. Rylee Mahaffey earned the win in game one going all seven innings, allowing no walks and striking out nine batters. Tied 3-3 at the bottom of the 7th, Claire Brewer hit a single and stole second. That set up Tenley Anderson to hit the game-winning single. In Game two, Kaylee Cass went 4 and 2/3rds innings with one strikeout and one walk, while Brewer stepped up in relief and limited TMC to a walk, and striking out two. Rylin Blystone had two hits in game two and added some stellar defensive work in center field to keep Indiana in the lead. The Indiana Junior League All-stars will represent Pennsylvania in the 2024 Eastern Regional Junior League Softball Tournament in Orange, Connecticut on July 17th-July23rd.
