A man charged with dealing drugs in Indiana County last year was sentenced to serve in state prison Friday morning.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said 26-year-old Sterling Friel was ordered to serve 19 months to five years in prison for a felony charge connected to an incident in June 2023 when members of the Indiana Borough Police Department, Indiana County Drug Task Force and the county Sheriff’s office conducted a controlled purchase of narcotics. An investigation revealed Friel had 10 to 50 grams of cocaine on his person and that he intended to sell it within the county.
Manzi reaffirmed that drug task force personnel continue aggressive investigations and prosecutions into drug trafficking, and he thanked assisting agencies for their contributions in this effort.
