Several preliminary hearings are on the schedule for Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas today, including one for a man charged in connection with a burglary in Blairsville last month.
Court documents show 32-year-old Tyler Ballengee is due for a preliminary hearing this afternoon for charges related to an incident on June 17, after an unnamed woman found Ballengee standing over her and going through her purse shortly after 9 AM. When ordered to leave, Ballengee allegedly told her quote, “Just give me some money and I’ll leave.” When police arrived, he reportedly led them on a chase through River Valley Park and was apprehended after Blairsville, Indiana, and Homer City borough officers and state police set up a perimeter around the park. The first two attempts at a preliminary hearing were continued.
Also due for a preliminary hearing is 29-year-old Kailum Jamal Miller, who is suspected of intentionally setting fire to an Indiana Borough apartment in February. First responders were called to a fire at 310 Maple Street shortly before midnight on February 12th that started in Apartment F, where Miller lived alone at the time. Police say he lit a mattress and a coat on fire with a small lighter before fleeing but was later apprehended. He has been in Indiana County Jail since his arrest as he was unable to post $100,000 bail.
