We are just 19 days away from the start of Steelers training camp. Players are scheduled to report to St. Vincent College on July 24th, with practices beginning the next day. They will be in Latrobe through August 15th with the first exhibition game scheduled for August 9th against the Texans at Acrisure Stadium.
Sports Illustrated reports today that the Steelers had a trade in place for 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk at the NFL Draft, but the deal fell through. SI says the Steelers and Washington Commanders are the front-runners to get Aiyuk, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter says Aiyuk isn’t going anywhere. He says he expects Aiyuk will “be in a Niners uniform” this season.
Sports Illustrated also reports that contract extension negotiations between Cam Heyward and the Steelers have hit a snag. Heyward is under contract through the upcoming season and wants to play at least two more.
