The Penguins took four right-handed shooting defensemen and two forwards in the NHL Draft yesterday, and traded with St. Louis for veteran forward Kevin Hayes and a 2025 second round pick in exchange for future considerations.
Hayes is 32 years old and entering the final year of a seven-year contract. He scored 13 goals with 16 assists while averaging 14:28 of ice time in 79 games played.
After not having a first round pick on Friday, the Penguins had six picks in the NHL Draft yesterday, including two in the second round. Here’s who they took:
Second Round (number 44 overall): Harrison Brunicke, defenseman. 6’3″, 196 pounds
Second Round (number 46 overall): Tanner Howe, forward. 5’10” 183 pounds
Fourth Round (number 111 overall): Chase Pietila, defenseman. 6’2″, 187 pounds
Sixth Round (number 175 overall): Joona Vaisanen, defenseman. 6’0″, 176 pounds
Seventh Round (number 207 overall): Mac Swanson, forward. 5’7″, 165 pounds
Seventh Round (number 223 overall): Finn Harding, defenseman. 6’1″, 201 pounds
