A Homer City woman was sentenced today for charges related to a drug overdose death.
28-year-old Sydney Horel was ordered to serve 18 months to five years in state prison for solo counts of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The charges stemmed from an investigation that goes back to July 27th of 2021 when police said that she delivered the fentanyl and heroin that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Seth Andrew Smith of Homer City. He was found dead in his home along Sycamore Street on that day. Police also found two stamp bags of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, heroin and morphine in the home.
The two sentences will run concurrently.
