Animal welfare officials across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are encouraging pet owners to be safe in the heat.
As temperatures will remain in the 90s through at least Saturday, they recommend limiting outdoor exposure for animals. If you must take your dogs out, they recommend booties to keep their feet from being burned on hot sidewalks.
Never leave your pets in hot cars, even with the engine running, and limit their exercise. Keep an eye out for heavy panting and an increased heart rate, signs your animal companions could be in distress.
