One of the eight people charged in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a West Wheatfield Township man in 2022 is due in court today for a sentencing hearing.
Court documents say that 20-year-old Taylyn Nashell Edwards of Johnstown will go before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco at 8:30 this morning. She pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping to facilitate a felony in connection with the death of 19-year-old Hayden Garreffa. She along with six other adults and one juvenile were accused of coercing him to leave his grandmother’s home and then stabbing him multiple times before leaving him dead in the tall grass off Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
Criminal call hearings are set for Desean Alvarez of Hammond, Indiana, and for Mia Catalfano of Johnstown in September, while similar hearings for Thomas Rivera of Johnstown will be held in August and for Summer Settlemyer, Issac Buchkowski and Jesse Wadsworth of Johnstown in October,
