A heat advisory remains in effect for Indiana County through the end of the week, and air-conditioned environments are becoming more important.
The advisory put in place by the National Weather Service stresses that people go to air-conditioned rooms, especially if they feel symptoms of heat related illnesses. Doug McNulty of Joyce Plumbing, Heating and Air said that there are several things that everyone can do to make sure their central air systems continue to work properly. One way is to check the filters.
He also says that if you notice that the room is not cooling, check for any outdoor parts that are freezing up. But he also said that heat indices are also going to play a factor in how an air conditioning system cools the room.
McNulty also said that he noticed a significant uptick in maintenance and service calls in the weeks leading up to the heat wave, but it should also remind everyone that annual maintenance is also important.
