The United School board Tuesday night approved the budget for the next school year that holds the line on taxes for district residents.
The 2024-25 budget comes to $24,293,133 in expenses and $23,778,622 in revenues. To make up the $514,691 deficit, the district will make a transfer of funds to the general fund, meaning that real estate taxes will remain at 11.156 mills. Superintendent Dr. Richard Lucas said that it was good to have a budget that did not place any additional burdens on the taxpayers.
The vote was 8-1 with Hunter Overdorff the lone dissenting vote.
The board also rejected all bids pertaining to the District Verkada Camera Installation Project. Lucas said that the bids needed revision, but they also hired Ralph Osmolinski as the district’s director of technology, and he has experience with the system, so he may handle the job instead of having the board outsource the work.
