More than 35 companies from several counties battled a fire that destroyed an Avonmore bar yesterday afternoon. The blaze was first reported just after 4:30 in the afternoon at the tavern known as “My Buddy’s Place”, at 407 Indiana Avenue.
A state police fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause but firemen at the scene said it might have started in the kitchen as a grease fire. Heavy machinery was brought in last night to pull down the walls after the floors of the old building collapsed.
Among those responding from Indiana County were the Iselin/West Lebanon and Coal Run/McIntyre fire companies, with Aultman, Creekside, Blairsville, Tunnelton, and Plumville placed on standby.
