The Penguins have found the replacement for associate coach Todd Reirden, who was fired after last season. He’s ex-Sharks and Rangers head coach David Quinn, who was fired by San Jose after the season. Quinn is a former college teammate of Pens head coach Mike Sullivan who also once coached their alma mater, Boston University. He was the 1984 number one draft choice of the Minnesota North Stars but his pro career was cut short by a blood clotting disorder.
Team president Kyle Dubas praised Quinn for his “long track record of helping elite defensemen”, such as Erik Karlsson, the Pens defenseman who played for Quinn at San Jose.
