Po-Yu Chen posted his second straight quality outing in a 3-1 Curve win last night in Richmond.
Chen went eight innings and allowed one run with nine strikeouts for Altoona. He’s now allowed just two runs in his last 14 innings pitched. Tyler Samaniego earned the save with a scoreless ninth.
Joe Perez had two hits, including a run-scoring single that got the Curve on the board in the first. Carter Bins also drove in a run on a hit and Yoyner Fajardo, who the Pirates acquired from Minnesota for cash on Tuesday, added the team’s final run with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth.
Sean Sullivan (1-5, 3.12 ERA) starts for Altoona in the series’ fifth game tonight.
