The Steelers began the final week of OTAs by welcoming Cam Heyward back to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. Heyward put in a full day with his teammates after sitting out the first two weeks of the voluntary workouts while contract talks go on.
The 13-year veteran said he wants to play three more seasons, and he told general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin that he wants them to be as a Steeler.
Heyward is entering the final year of his contract, and he hopes to sign an extension for two more seasons, but if it’s his final year in Pittsburgh, “we’ll see what happens.”
Heyward says he is completely recovered from his surgeries on his injured groin. He had in-season surgery on the right side last year and off-season surgery on the left side, to “tighten up” the muscles there.
Heyward likes the free agent and draft talent acquired by the Steelers in the off-season, but says they have to do the job on the field.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Steelers have agreed to a contract with former Eagles and Texans safety Grayland Arnold. He can also play slot corner. He signed as an undrafted free agent with Philadelphia in 2020 and has spent the last three seasons in Houston.
