The Pirates capped off their five-game road trip with a 5-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday afternoon.
Joe Block has the (very brief) recap.
Quinn Priester, who was recalled from the taxi squad earlier in the day, managed to pitch only four-and-two-thirds innings. He got the first two outs in the fifth and was pulled with two runners on. Hunter Stratton then gave up a go-ahead, two-run double to former Pirate Daniel Vogelbach and he allowed an unearned run in the sixth.
To make room for Priester, the Pirates placed infielder Alika Williams on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist sprain retroactive to May 30.
Henry Davis is returning to the majors, according to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Davis was optioned May 3 after a cold start to the year, but since his demotion, he’s hit .296 with seven home runs and 17 RBI in 23 games. No official announcement was made from the team but it’s expected to be made tomorrow.
The Pirates have today off before returning home tomorrow night to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
