The final session of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) opens up today for the Steelers at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. It’s the final workout for the team before mandatory minicamp begins on June 11.
Live contact is not permitted in this phase, but teams may participate in 7-on-7, 9-on-9 or 11-on-11 drills.
One of the big focal points for the Steelers in OTAs is getting new players and coaches familiar with each other, especially on offense with the addition of offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and several new linemen.
Veteran guard Isaac Seumalo said the players are receptive to Smith.
Second-round pick Zach Frazier is competing for the starting job at center and he said he’s learning a lot in his first few weeks of camp.
Tackle Broderick Jones said Wilson and Fields have made learning new things easier for him.
The final session of OTAs wraps up on Wednesday.
