Students at River Valley High School were honored at Sunday night’s Myron Cope Awards at Point Park University.
River Valley’s Sports and Entertainment Communications and Design Class took home three awards from the ceremony. The class won Best Sports Social Media Account Team, seniors Brad McDivitt and Dom Bartolini were named High School Sports Podcasters for the Year for their “Panther Preview” series, which is modeled after ESPN’s SportsCenter and recaps recent athletic events within the district; and junior Jess Barger also received an Honorable Mention in Sports Photography.
The course was taught by Darren Studnicki, a long-time substitute in the district and A/V club sponsor. He called it “a great honor” for the students and said it’s “incredible to see so many students in front of the camera and behind the scenes, contributing to the recognition of River Valley’s student athletes and coaches.”
