The Pirates have had three off days this week but they return to action tonight as they are north of the border to open a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Bailey Falter (3-2, 3.55 ERA) will start for the Pirates. His last outing came a week ago when he allowed six runs and three hits over 7.1 innings against Atlanta at PNC Park. Opposing him will be Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios (5-4, 294 ERA). You’ll hear tonight’s game starting at 6:40 with first pitch to follow at 7:07 on WCCS.
Martin Perez’s placement on the injured list leaves the Pirates without a starter for Sunday’s game in Toronto, however, they might look to former first-round pick Quinn Priester to fill the gap. Since he was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on May 5th, he’s allowed three runs over 11 innings, and he’s coming off his best outing of the year, when he allowed just one hit over seven innings last Sunday against Iowa.
