The second session of OTAs started yesterday at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex and most of the buzz circled around the team’s wide receiver corps. as they prepare for a year with two new quarterbacks, a new offensive coordinator and several new faces to the locker room.
One of those receivers is third-year man Calvin Austin III, who is coming off his first full season with the team. After finding himself as a primary returner in 2023 and third on the wide receiver depth chart, Austin could find himself as one of Russell Wilson or Justin Fields’ main targets in the regular season.
Austin said after yesterday’s practice that he’s trying to take in as much information as possible from Wilson and Fields.
Austin also said this year’s team seems more intense than in years past.
After missing his first year with an injury, Austin told reporters he needs to take a walk-on mentality at OTAs or else he will find himself out of work.
OTAs continue today and tomorrow.
