While the Penguins are gearing up for the upcoming offseason, two players were in action over the weekend in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships.
Defensemen Erik Karlsson and Marcus Pettersson helped Sweden claim bronze in the championship tournament. Karlsson netted six goals and five assists in the tournament, even posting the game-tying goal in the bronze-medal game. Pettersson recorded three goals and two assists.
Czech Republic won the tournament after shutting out Switzerland, 2-0, in the championship game on Sunday.
The Seattle Kraken are hiring former Penguins coach Dan Bylsma as their next head coach, according to ESPN. Bylsma led the Penguins from 2009 to 2014, clinching a Stanley Cup in his first season and making the playoffs each year after that. He also won the Jack Adams Award in the 2010-11 season.
Bylsma has been coaching in the AHL since 2021.
