Those who like to fish, but haven’t done so yet this year, may want to dust off the tackle box this weekend as tomorrow will be a special day for it.
Sunday marks the first of two “Fish for Free” days in the state, allowing anyone, whether they are a resident of the state or not, to head out to the state’s waterways with no fishing license required. Trout, Salmon and Lake Erie permits are also not required on Sunday, but all other fishing regulations apply. A list of those regulations can be found on the Fish and Boat commission’s website.
The “Fish for Free” days are meant to expose youth to the activity. The other “Fish for Free” day is set for July 4th.
