It’s never happened before. IUP will host the NCAA Atlantic Super Regionals this weekend, welcoming another PSAC team, Seton Hill, to Owen J. Dougherty Field. IUP swept its three games in one Atlantic Region pod while Seton Hill battled its way back through the loser’s bracket to take the other pod.
IUP beat Seton Hill three out of the four times they played this season. The Crimson Hawks are 36-15 and can set the program record for victories in a season with a win this weekend, breaking a tie with the 2008 team. There will be one game this afternoon, a second game tomorrow, and a third game, if necessary, also tomorrow.
Coach Steve Kline says the Crimson Hawks have a chance to do something very special this weekend.
Kline will throw right-hander Mark Edeburn (10-2, 3.50 ERA, 5 complete games) today. He says Edeburn has set the tone for a strong pitching staff all season long.
Derrick Shields and Jake Black are scheduled to pitch for IUP tomorrow.
Kline says IUP has to take care of the basics to be successful against the Griffins.
The coach encourages you to come see the games this weekend. He’s looking forward to seeing some exciting baseball.
First pitch today is at noon. We’re on the air on Renda Digital TV at 11:45 AM. You can get there by visiting any of our Renda Media websites or searching for the Renda Digital TV YouTube channel.
Tomorrow’s games are scheduled at 11 AM and 2 PM.
